I had expected the drinks to be hard to come by, but this was certainly not the case. The only disappointing aspect was the choice and volume of music, we asked for it to be turned down which helped, but American country music didn't exactly match the setting.

We had a great time on this cruise. They were generous with the flow of wine, but given it was a short cruise it was not an overly drunk or party crowd. We sailed at dusk and came back after dark with the amazing city lights glowing. Get there early for upper deck seating. Maybe skip the “crusts and dips” or share one as an appetizer— bread (yummy and warm) and dips — tuna, cucumber and sour cream(?). They were not bad, but not a meal. We could not hear the tour narrative so this is not a tour to learn about the city and its history. That was not a deterrent to us. I’d have preferred music. We were on a mother-daughter trip, but this would make a nice date night or fun with group of friends. I don’t know if they allow kids, but there are likely better options for young families, though families with teens could enjoy it.

Amazing tour. Budapest can be more charming at night, specially seen from the River. The Prosecco is the special ingredient that makes the tour an amazing experience. Everything was well organized, friendly staff, good vibes, lovely focaccia and lots of smiles! We had a blast.

The Best Time of Year to Go on a Danube Cruise in Budapest

Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, is a charming and vibrant destination that sits beautifully along the majestic Danube River. A Danube River cruise offers a unique and unforgettable way to experience the city's rich history, stunning architecture, and picturesque landscapes. However, choosing the best time of year to embark on this delightful cruise can greatly impact your overall experience. Let's explore the different seasons and find out the ideal time to go on a Danube cruise in Budapest.

Spring - March to May

Spring is a magical time in Budapest as the city comes alive with colorful blooms and pleasant weather. The temperatures start to rise, ranging from mild to warm, making it an excellent time to stroll along the riverbanks and explore the city's attractions. The cherry blossoms and tulips add an enchanting touch to the already breathtaking views along the Danube. During this time, the river traffic is not as crowded, allowing for a more intimate and peaceful cruise experience.

Summer - June to August

Summer is undoubtedly the peak tourist season in Budapest. The city is bustling with activity, and the weather is warm and sunny. This season is ideal for those who love a vibrant and lively atmosphere. A Danube cruise during the summer offers the advantage of longer daylight hours, providing more time to admire the city's landmarks beautifully illuminated in the evening. However, keep in mind that popular tourist spots can get crowded, and you may have to share the cruise experience with more people.

Fall - September to November

Fall in Budapest is a sight to behold, as the foliage turns into a splendid array of autumn colors. The temperatures gradually cool down, creating a pleasant ambiance for sightseeing and cruising. The cruise during this time of year offers a quieter experience compared to the summer months, and you can still enjoy some of the city's outdoor activities before winter sets in. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the thermal baths to warm up during the cooler evenings.

Winter - December to February

Winter brings a fairytale-like charm to Budapest, especially during the festive season. The city is adorned with Christmas lights and decorations, creating a magical atmosphere. Cruising the Danube in winter offers a unique perspective as you pass by the snow-covered landmarks, including the iconic Chain Bridge and Buda Castle. However, be prepared for colder temperatures, and some attractions may have limited opening hours due to the season.
